Motivation

Dear Interested Parties,

Through my work I have contact with many different people who stem from various countries in the world every day. My dialogue partners are mostly very friendly and open-minded towards the other cultures. We all firstly make the effort to determine the differences and what we have in common. In the next step when dealing with each other we support ourselves on what we have in common and, at the same time, we try to accept the differences, even find them thrilling and exciting. These interactions fill me with the hope that my children will not have to experience any wars.

On the other hand, although the last war in Europe was now almost 70 years ago, the day of the victory (9 May 1945) is still one of the greatest celebrations in Russia. A German colleague during the founding of a plant of a German company in Russia said “We (the Germans) were not able to crush them (the Russians) with tanks at the time. We are now returning and beating them with the economic power.” Russia and Germany are the 2nd and the 3rd largest weapons exporters in the world. It is still too early to lean back.

Let us get to know and visit each other, make friends, work on building the house of Europe together so that it remains beautiful and safe.

Your Anna Metternich
